He has extensive professional experience in the fields of Retail, Real Estate and Hospitality besides been actively engaged in the fields of Consulting, Training and Mentoring. Dr. Runwal started his career as a Retailer in 1983 from the historic town of Vijayapura in Karnataka, India. He later moved to the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India in 1994 and was a part of the Real Estate and Hospitality Industry for over two and half decades. His Real Estate company was amongst the early recipients of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country.

After a successful business career of 32 years at the age of 55, Dr. Runwal chose to exit from his business activities and decided to dedicate the rest of his life towards returning back to the Business fraternity through his 5E (Experience, Exposure, Expertise, Education and Excellence) attributes. He founded his Consulting, Strategy Training and Mentoring company – Strategic Business Solutions [India] at Pune in India. His expertise spans across multiple sectors including real estate, engineering, hospitality, auto components, chemicals, pharmacy, healthcare, and the service sector.

He offers guidance to young entrepreneurs and individuals seeking structured business growth. His approach emphasizes the importance of strategic thinking, leadership, and planning. His work has positively impacted numerous businesses and individuals, earning him recognition as a trusted advisor and mentor. Dr. Runwal is also an author in the field of Strategic Management with his first book ‘Demystifying Strategy Implementation – A Roadmap for Putting Strategy to Action’ which is based on the six intellectual properties created by him in the field of Strategic Management.

Dr. Runwal is a much sought-after speaker, addressing diverse audiences on topics such as Strategic Management and Business Transformation. He is also a very popular speaker in the field of Humanology and speaks on his favourite topics of SBOP Living, Doing Good in Life and Transforming Life After 55/60. Through his articles and talks he has been trying to help people beyond the age of 55/60 to lead a purposeful, meaningful and fulfilling life. His new book ‘How to Live Life? SBOP Living: For Life After 55/60’ is an outcome of his own experiences, learnings and lessons in life after retiring from business at the age of 55.

Dr. Runwal has over the past few years dedicated himself to pro bono work, by focusing on giving back to society. The royalty proceeds of all his books too are marked for charitable causes. Dr. Runwal is also the Founder Director of the Sanjay Runwal Foundation which is engaged in various activities of serving the needy and less fortunate in the society. He is a firm believer that a small intent can make a large difference in the world.

Dr. Runwal is an Electrical Engineer from the MNIT Jaipur. He has an MSc in Strategic Planning and Post Graduate Certificate in Business Research Methods from the Edinburgh Business School, UK besides being a Post Doctoral – Senior Fellow in the field of Business Strategy for his work on Strategy Implementation and a Post Graduate Diploma in Alternate Dispute Resolution.

He is settled in the Indian city of Pune where he lives with his wife Pratibha.
